They say it “takes a village”. That is most certainly the case with Zonta San-Cap’s fundraising efforts, where each and every member of our club works tirelessly to raise money in support of empowering women.

Proceeds from our annual fundraiser are distributed through the Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida to organizations that work to improve the lives of women and girls.

All of us at Zonta San-Cap are extremely grateful for the many sponsors and supporters who have helped us raise over $1 million for these important community non-profits over the past 20 years.

Peek at the Unique Online Auction

The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva announces its Fall 2021 fundraiser:  “Shop Zonta’s Peek.” The online auction, which runs the entire month of October, draws inspiration from Zonta’s former home tour, “Peek at the Unique.”

There’s something for everyone to “Peek” at:  Bid on fabulous places to stay, from Sanibel to Asheville; consider land and sea excursions; enjoy unique tours of Sanibel staples (CROW, the Shell Museum, Historical Village), grab show tickets, dinners, gifts and more!  How about a private party at Tino’s Southwest Grill? All you have to do is bid on your chosen item—and keep bidding to win!

Think Christmas gifts!  The complete catalog is online beginning October 1 and runs through October 31.

Peek Repurposed

In lieu of our traditional “Peek at the Unique” home tour, our club members developed an innovative and equally unique fundraiser for 2021. “Peek Repurposed” allowed us to give a fresh look to the club’s ongoing fundraising efforts over the next year as we continue to face uncertain times.

This year’s “Peek at the Unique Repurposed” included an online Art and Repurposed Furniture Auction (click to view winning bids) and an Antiques and Jewelry Appraisals event. We are extremely grateful to the many supporters of these two unique and fun events.

We also want to thank J. McLaughlin who hosted a Sip & Shop fundraiser in support of Zonta at the Sanibel and Captiva locations their stores. The store generously donated 15% of all sales from Saturday, March 13 to the Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida.

Antiques and Jewelry Appraisals

It was our very own version of the “Antiques Roadshow” where nationally renowned appraiser H. Peter Curran, was on hand to evaluate antiques, collectibles, deconstruction items, and more. A professional antiques appraiser, Curran actually appeared on PBS-TV Antiques Roadshow for five years and is one of just a few people nationwide to do deconstruction appraisals.

In addition, Carlos Fernandez, gem/jewelry expert from Congress Jewelers (Periwinkle Place, 2075 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel) was on site to appraise gems and jewelry items.

Thank you to our two experts who graciously donated their time and expertise for this fun event! And many thanks to those who booked appointments with the appraisers!

Peek at the Unique
The well-known and record-setting home tour and signature fundraiser for the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva and the Zonta Foundation of Southwest Florida, held annually in March since 2002.

For nearly 20 years, “Peek at the Unique” has earned its reputation as an island tradition and a sought-after day out for locals, seasonal residents, and visitors.

The event kicks off at the Sanibel Community Church, where participants enjoy delicious refreshments provided by leading island restaurants and caterers. Guests are then transported via luxury buses for a three-hour guided tour of four island homes, learning interesting and unique features for each of the homes.

Special thanks to the many sponsors and supporters who have helped us raise over $1 million for community non-profits via the “Peek at the Unique.”

Special Note
Due to the challenges and uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to cancel the 2020 “Peek” and have adjusted 2021 plans for the “Peek Repurposed” described above. Be sure to check back for details on “Peek at the Unique” for 2022!
